Lady Jackets Drop Season Opener To Clermont East Ridge, August 27, 2013

CLERMONT - The Lady Jackets of Leesburg High School traveled to Clermont for their season opener against East Ridge High School yesterday. The Lady Knights overpowered Leesburg with a 3-0 win in a non-district matchup. 

Stephanie Symed led the Lady Knights with 10 kills in a 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 sweep. Aliyah Damaniladah added 23 assists for the Knights (1-0). The loss drops Leesburg record to 0-1 (0-0) on the year. The Lady Jackets will take a few days off and return to action Tuesday, September 3, 2013 against the The Villages Charter School, in The Villages.

FHSAA Announces Tenative New Districts For Volleyball, April 9,2013

LEESBURG - The FHSAA recently announced tentative new districts for Volleyball. The district will be the home to 7 teams next season. The Lady Jackets finished the season with a 7-10 (6-6) record in 2012.

Here is a look at the pairings.

District 6A-6 — Ocala Forest, Ocala Lake Weir and Ocala Vanguard are paired up with Lake Minneola, Lecanto, Leesburg and Groveland South Lake.

LEESBURG - The Lady Jackets of Leesburg High School were defeated by the Umatilla Lady Bulldogs 3-2 in girls (25-22, 23-25, 25-12, 16-25, 15-10) in girls volleyball action on Monday night. The Lady Jackets played host to Umatilla at the Hive on the campus of Leesburg High School. The win was the first of the season for Umatilla, who record now stands at 1-4 on the season.

 
The Bulldogs took advantage of outstanding play by senior Veronica McCall and sophomore Dana Camper.
 
Junior Alex Perkins and Mackenzie Bennett led the Lady Jackets (5-2) with 15, and 7 kills respectively, while junior setter Sarah McKinney totaled 84 assists in the loss.

The Leesburg High girl's volleyball team upped its season record to 4-3 with a win over Eustis Monday night. The Jackets defeated the Panthers 12-15, 16-14, and 15-4, with Sandra Rutig high with points on serve.

 

Eustis defeated Leesburg in two other matches this season.

 

This past week LHS dropped Groveland 15-1, 7-15, and 15-6. In the first game Vickie Jensen scored 11 points off her serve. Rutig scored eight points on serve in third game.

 

Lisa Batt set up Rutig and Tracy Rowland for numerous spikes.

 

The Jackets face Tavares in an away contest Friday at 4:30 p.m.
